Statement of Faith

Alexandria Classical Christian Academy teachers and staff are united in our belief that God in his glory has formed truth and made it the glory of man to learn, discover, and seek it out (Prov. 25:2).

ACCA guides students in worship that reflects the foundational teachings of Christianity.

Apostles' Creed

I believe in God, the Father almighty,

creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord.

He was conceived by the Holy Spirit

and born of the Virgin Mary.

He suffered under Pontius Pilate,

was crucified, died, and was buried.

He descended to the dead.

On the third day he rose again.

He ascended into heaven,

and is seated at the right hand of the Father.

He will come again to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,

the holy catholic* Church,

the communion of saints,

the forgiveness of sins,

the resurrection of the body,

and the life everlasting. Amen.

Nicene Creed

I believe in one God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible.

And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of His Father before all worlds, God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God, begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father, by whom all things were made; who for us men and for our salvation came down from heaven and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the Virgin Mary and was made man; and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate. He suffered and was buried. And the third day He rose again according to the Scripture and ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of the Father. And He will come again with glory to judge both the living and the dead, whose kingdom will have no end.

And I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and Giver of Life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son together is worshipped and glorified, who spoke by the prophets. And I believe in one holy Christian and apostolic Church, and I acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins, and I look for the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.

ACCA also professes that we believe:

Scripture:

The Holy Scripture is the inspired, infallible, authoritative word of God, and the general testimonies, miracles, prophesies, and events of the Old and New Testament are true. (2 Timothy 3:15-17)

The Trinity:

There is one God eternally existing in three persons: God the Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. (Ephesians 4:4-6; John 10:1; John 1:1-3)

Creation:

God created the universe, and all that is in it, and creation proclaims His glory. (Genesis 1; Psalm 19). We are called to be caretakers and stewards of His creation, caring for the earth and all that is in it. (Genesis 2:15; Leviticus 25:1-7; Deuteronomy 10:14). All people were made in God’s image, and accordingly, all human life is inherently valuable and sacred. (Genesis 1:27; Psalm 139:13-14). As part of his creation, God created men and women as unique biological persons, and one’s gender is not subject to being changed. (Genesis 1:27).

The Fall:

All men are alienated from God through sin and face the judgement of God.

(Romans 3, 6).

Redemption:

God sent Jesus, His son, to die for our sins, so that through faith in Him, we might be redeemed and have eternal life. (John 3). Jesus Christ is the only way to salvation. (Romans 3; John 14:6).

Restoration:

God will ultimately restore all things to glory (at the second coming of Christ), including the physical resurrection of the saints. (1 Cor. 15:35-58, John 14:3)

Great Commission:

Christians are sent as ambassadors, commissioned to go and make Christ known to the whole world, sharing with all people the Word of God that transforms lives. (Matthew 28:19-20).

The Church:

All believers in Jesus Christ are spiritually united and members of His Church, the spiritual body of which Christ is the head. (1 Corinthians 12:12-31).

Family:

Marriage between a husband and wife is the foundation of the family, and human sexuality belongs within the context of marriage. (Genesis 2; Matthew 19; 1 Corinthians 6).

Love for Neighbor:

Christians are called to act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with our God. (Micah 6).  We are to treat all people with love, kindness, and compassion, loving our neighbor as ourselves. (Genesis 5; Matthew 22; Luke 10; Galatians 5:14).

The Role of the Christian Faith at ACCA:

The statements in the Profession of Faith (above) are the foundational Christian teachings that will inform instruction through all grade levels. Secondary doctrines and issues will be referred to the family and local churches for final authority, even in theology classes that discuss differences in secondary theology.

ACCA is a Christian school that does not teach a specific denominational set of beliefs. As such, fidelity to a particular Christian denomination is not required for staff, students, or families; however, all staff and Trustees must profess faith in Jesus Christ and belief in the Gospel.

ACCA maintains a missional approach to welcoming students and parents, whereby each member of the community is required to support the Christian teaching of the school, but is not required to prove church membership or profess belief to attend.

ACCA observes the church calendar and celebrates seasons of the church year. Students participate in celebration and reflection, growing in their understanding of the church universal’s historic traditions and liturgies.

ACCA operates in loco parentis, with delegated authority from parents, who are granted the ultimate authority to raise their children. (Deuteronomy 6; Ephesians 6). ACCA educators and staff joyfully partner with parents to train and admonish students in and toward virtue and godly character. But ultimately, the Lord has delegated authority to parents in the raising of their children, and parents bear the primary responsibility of shepherding their children to maturity.
